Raleigh hires economic development manager

The city has hired Dwight Bassett as Raleigh's first economic development manager.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The city has hired Dwight Bassett as Raleigh's first economic development manager.

Bassett, who has served as economic development director for Chapel Hill since 2007, will start his new position on March 26.

He will manage and coordinate all economic development activities in Raleigh, overseeing a staff of up to seven full- and part-time employees.
