RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police blocked an exit ramp from Interstate 40 in downtown early Thursday after a fire started in a Greyhound bus.

Police said a small fire in the engine forced the bus driver to pull over at South Saunders Road and I-40 East around 12:30 a.m.

All 20 people on board the bus got off safely.

Police shut down the ramp from I-40 to inbound South Saunders Street while crews put out the fire.

Greyhound dispatched another bus to take the passengers on their journey to Richmond, Va.
