BURLINGTON, N.C. — The Burlington Police Department is investigating a police chase and shooting that occurred Sunday.

Burlington police said Sunday at approximately 9:36 p.m, officers received multiple calls about a shooting on Alamance Road near I-40.

Burlington police said witnesses reported that two vehicles exited I-40 west bound traveling north on Alamance Road. A black Dodge Charger appeared to be chasing a dark colored Honda style vehicle.

According to police both cars ran the traffic light at Alamance Road and continued north. Occupants in both vehicles were shooting at each other as they made the turn onto Alamance Road.

The Honda style vehicle continued north on Alamance Road towards Mebane Street and the Dodge Charger turned onto Kirkwood Drive.

Burlington police said officers located multiple spent shell casings in the roadway on Alamance Road.

There were no reported injuries.
