CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control (ACC) are asking for the public’s help corralling a bull on the run in the Charlotte area after storms passed through North Carolina on Monday night.

On Tuesday morning, the ACC’s field operations manager returned to Moores Chapel Road with a drone, but did not spot the bull. As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, there have been no additional reported sightings of the bull.

People called the ACC on Monday night after seeing the escaped bull. Authorities said the bull was spooked by the severe weather and escaped from a pasture to an enclosed area.

On Monday night, the bull’s owner tried to lasso and corral the bull with the help of police officers. Police gave the owner permission to neutralize the bull if necessary.

The bull ran into the woods, the ACC said.

The owner and police left the scene around 10:45 p.m. Monday.

Anyone who has seen the bull is asked to call 311 and should not attempt to corral the animal.

The ACC is also investigating to see if the owner has a current livestock permit.

The Durham Bulls also got in on the story, posting on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, “Bulls running all over charLLLLLLLLLLLotte? Yeah this happens a lot.”

In the 2023 season, the Durham Bulls have a 12-6 record against the Charlotte Knights.
