DURHAM, N.C. — The owner of Bull City Burger and Brewery and Pompieri Pizza just opened a third restaurant in Durham.
Construction started in February for Bull City Solera and Taproom, which is located in the old Chick-Fil-A building at 4120 University Drive.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the restaurant decided to take advantage of the building's drive-thru feature and make it a take-out only restaurant.

The restaurant's full menu will include Mexican Pizza and Italian Tacos created by Seth Gross, the owner of both Bull City Burger and Brewery and Pompieri Pizza.

“When COVID-19 shut everything down, we did a pop-up burrito thing inside Bull City Burger and Brewery just for fun and to give employees hours. It was so popular, we opted to move the concept to our taproom location so we could expand on the food and offer more menu options," Gross said.

The menu will stay true to Pompieri and Bull City's menus by offering "happy” meats raised in North Carolina without added hormones or antibiotics. Also look for gluten-free and vegan options.

While the taproom itself isn't open yet, you can still get Bull City Brewery's canned beer at the restaurant.

When the dining room and bar opens, it will feature a glass-enclosed oak barrel solera, which will be used to age beer. The beer will be stored in rows of oak barrels stacked in a pyramid. Several times a year, beer will be taken from the bottom level of barrels, blended and served on tap. The upper rows of beer will filter down and new beer will be added on top.
