Brutally cold weather settles in for several days

It's going to be a very cold start to the work week.

RALEIGH, N.C. — It's going to be a very cold start to the work week, with temperatures in the low 20s for several mornings.

Temperatures dropped to 25 degrees overnight, and, although it will be bright and sunny, Monday's high will be around 40 degrees.

Lows Monday and Tuesday nights will be very cold as well, with temperatures around 23 degrees. Things get warmer as the weekend gets closer, with a high around 50 degrees for Thursday and highs in the mid 50s on Friday.

WRAL meteorologist Zach Maloch said the Sunday night to Wednesday stretch will be one of the coldest stretches we have seen in almost a year. There was a stretch of four days with temperatures below freezing in late January and early February 2019.

After Thursday, temperatures will be above normal again, though not nearly as warm as last week.
