FOUR OAKS, N.C. — Several brush fires alongside Interstate 95 in Johnston County, prompted a 7-mile-long closure of southbound lanes early Saturday afternoon.

Johnston County dispatch officials said lanes were temporarily closed between Exit 90 to N.C. Highway 301, north of Four Oaks, to mile marker 83, two miles north of the junction with Interstate 40 in Benson.

Traffic was moving smoothly again by 4 p.m., dispatch officials said.

Dispatch officials said the small brush fires were contained and did not spread to any structures. No one was injured.

Crews from four fire departments were handling the brush fires.
