CARY, N.C. — A brush fire scorched about 10 acres of ground in Cary Monday afternoon, a town spokesman said.

The blaze spread from an unattended fire in an area where homeless people had camped between Trinity Road and Cary Towne Boulevard just west of Interstate 40.

Smoke was visible to drivers on U.S. Highways 1 and 64 in Cary as well.

The fire did not threaten any buildings, authorities said. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
