Brothers see laser scope, hear gunshots while changing flat tire

Tracy and Rakim Moore said they feared for their lives, and will never forget seeing the red light from the laser scope on their bodies.

"I thought I was gone that night. To be honest, I thought me and my brother was gone," said Rakim.

On Friday, May 15 Rakim's brother had a flat tire while riding down C.P. Stewart Road, outside of Lillington. He stopped to fix it in front of Brian Beckner's home.

While Rakim was getting the jack from the trunk, he said he overheard his brother explaining to Beckner that they just had a flat tire and would be leaving as soon as they could.

But, Rakim said, the man responded, "No, it's a problem."

"By that time," said Rakim, "He'd gotten the AR out."

Beckner reportedly came out of his home with a gun with a laser on the end and pointed it at the brothers.

The brothers begged him not to shoot, then took off running as if their lives depended on it.

"As we're running, I see a red beam coming up the highway. Like, he was just aiming at us. And the next thing you know, two shots go off," said Rakim.

Beckner told authorities he fired two warning shots in the air. He was arrested and faces several charges, including assault by pointing a weapon, communicating threats and going armed to terror people.

According to reports, three other people also pulled over to help change the tire, and Beckner allegedly pointed the weapon at them as well.

Beckner was released from the Harnett County Detention Center on a $6,000 bond.
