Brothers charged with murder after man found dead in Raleigh

Two brothers were charged with murder in connection with the Sept. 2 death of a 50-year-old man.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Three brothers were charged with murder in connection with the Sept. 2 death of a 50-year-old man.

Around 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 2, officers with the Raleigh Police Department responded to 421 Chapanoke Road, where they found a man in the parking lot between South Wilmington Street and Ileagnes Road.

The man, identified as Lalo Catro-Ibarra, 50, was dead when officers arrived.

Investigators identified brothers Julian Vargas-Gomez, 51, and Guadalupe Vargas-Gomez, 55, as suspects. The brothers were arrested on Tuesday and each charged with murder.

Later in the day on Tuesday, the Raleigh police department announced that a third brother was charged. Venancio Vargas-Gomez, 56, was arrested and also charged with murder.

There were no details on how Catro-Ibarra died or if he knew the brothers.
