Water main ruptures in Chapel Hill
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A northbound lane of N.C. Highway 15/501 (Fordham Boulevard) near Estes Drive in Chapel Hill reopened Wednesday night after a broken water main was repaired, authorities said.

The pipe repair was completed Wednesday afternoon, and a contractor working for the Orange Water and Sewer Authority completed pavement work in the repair area at about 7:15 p.m.

Orange County officials provided bottled water to residents at Ridgefield Apartments at the east end of Estes Drive and Binkley Baptist Church Preschool. Water service was disrupted at those locations to make the repairs.

Customers who notice discoloration or air bubbles in water are asked to run cold water through a faucet for five to 10 minutes. If this does not clear up the water, customers are asked to call OWASA at 919-968-4421.
