Brewery Bhavana, Bida Manda investigating claims of inappropriate conduct by co-owner
A co-owner of two award-winning downtown Raleigh restaurants has stepped away from his leadership position at both places after allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate workplace conduct.
more than a dozen current and former employees detailed incidents to WRL involving Van No Linda or his employees. And they told us within the two restaurants know Linda had a reputation for unnecessary touching and fostering a culture where people did not feel comfortable coming forward to speak. This afternoon, two former employees shared encounters with Nolan tha that they described as sexually inappropriate. In some cases, the descriptions were graphic, but we've selected portions of the interviews that are appropriate. Take a listen. We would be like a circle talking and he might have his hand on my back. Or there'll be lots of massages, like not necessarily that weekend, but just all the time. He was known to be fairly hanzee. It started with, like, little comments, Um, like, uh, you know, Justin, you look really hot today. I like your shirt when you roll those sleeves up or, you know, like, unbutton your shirt a little bit some summer time. Um, and then it sort of went from there to mawr over, sort of like touching, like, you know, uh, touching your arm like, why are you have you been working out lately? And like no not really like. It's just, you know, sort of felt like a weird sort of excuse to, you know, engage in that in touch. And Moretto tells me, When he spoke up about one graphic encounter to another manager, his hours were cut and then he was fired. In line of the allegations, restaurant co owners Van Visa, Nolan Tha, his sister and Patrick Woodson released a statement saying Olimpa has stepped away from his leadership position. It reads, in part quote, We take the sexual harassment allegations and conduct complaints for both restaurants very seriously, and have decided to bring in an independent third party to investigate allegations of inappropriate workplace conduct to ensure the integrity of this investigation. We have asked Van Newlin tha to step away from his leadership position within both companies. Now WRL did leave a message with Melinda, but we have not heard back. I also spoke to the woman who first brought what the's former employees have called an unsafe work environment. Toe light. We will share that interview with you tomorrow for more details on this story, including to hear from or people describing instances of inappropriate behavior, head to our website wrl dot com.
