Bragg soldier, Lejeune Marine killed in Afghanistan

A Fort Bragg soldier and a Camp Lejeune Marine were killed Monday in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Tuesday.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier and a Camp Lejeune Marine were killed Monday in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Tuesday.

Army Spc. Scott A. Andrews, 21, of Fall River, Mass., died at Forward Operating Base Lagman in the Zabul province after insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

Andrews was assigned to the 618th Engineer Support Company, 27th Engineer Battalion, 20th Engineers Brigade.

Marine Lance Cpl. Timothy G. Serwinowski, 21, of North Tonawanda, N.Y., died while supporting combat operations in Helmand province.

Serwinowski was an assaultman assigned to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 7, I Marine Expeditionary Force Forward.
