Bragg soldier killed in Afghanistan

Sgt. 1st Class Carlos M. Santos-Silva, 32, of Clarksville, Tenn., died in Kandahar province after his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device, officials said.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — A Fort Bragg-based soldier was killed Monday in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Wednesday.

Sgt. 1st Class Carlos M. Santos-Silva, 32, of Clarksville, Tenn., died in Kandahar province after his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device, officials said.

Santos-Silva was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.
