Bragg soldier found dead in Cameron home

An 82nd Airborne paratrooper was found unresponsive at his home Saturday afternoon in Cameron, the Army said Tuesday.

CAMERON, N.C. — An 82nd Airborne paratrooper was found unresponsive at his home Saturday afternoon in Cameron, the Army said Tuesday.

Spc. George James Desormeaux II, 34, of Chesterton, Ind., was a chemical specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

The cause of death remains under investigation, authorities said.

Desormeaux joined the Army in August 1995 and was honorably discharged in January 2003. He rejoined the Army in May 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia E. Desormeaux of Cameron; his mother, Christina Jo Traxler of La Porte, Ind.; and his father, George James Desormeaux.
