Boy Scouts rescued after flood waters wash out Nash County roads
As flash flood watches and warnings threaten parts of central North Carolina, a rescue operation happened Saturday afternoon in Nash County when a Boy Scouts troop was stranded at a campground because of high water.
Posted — UpdatedAbout 130 Scouts who had traveled from Greenville were at Camp Charles when Saturday's rainfall washed out a road that the troop had used to get to their campgrounds.
Nash County emergency workers received a call around 2:30 p.m. about the situation.
The Scouts were plucked to safety by canoe while others walked over a small piece of land that hasn't been washed out yet.
No injuries were reported.
