CARY, N.C. — Cary police said an 8-year-old boy was shot in the face with an arrow while playing with another child Tuesday afternoon.

The boy was taken to Duke University Hospital, and his injury is not life-threatening, according to police Capt. Randall Rhyne.

The incident happened outside a home on Cameron Pond Drive.

Susan Moran, a spokeswoman for the Town of Cary, said children from three families were playing together in the front yard of a home when the accident occurred.

Moran said it's too soon to determine whether any criminal charges will be filed in the case.
