FORT BRAGG, N.C. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection recruitment officials will stay on Fort Bragg until Dec. 20, the agency announced Wednesday.

The agency had opened a recruiting office for 45 days starting in August and saw more than 1,200 applicants, an “overwhelming response,” a news release said.

Bob Graczyk, a supervisory Customs and Border Protection officer, said in the release that many service members were unfamiliar with career opportunities for transitional service members.

Of CBP’s workforce, veterans make up 28 percent and disabled veterans make up 6 percent.
