As more and more people get COVID-19 vaccines, many are counting the days until they believe they can safely travel again.

Travel experts say now is a great time to book flights.

"We’re really going to see numbers take off for domestic travel in the spring, and then for international travel in the summer," says Scott Keyes, a budget travel guru who created Scott’scheapflights.com, a website that emails the best travel deals from airports you pick.
The company just surveyed thousands of subscribers about travel plans. One responded, "Once I get vaccinated, I am getting back out on the road. I’m traveling again. I’m going to make up for lost time."

Keyes said if that’s you, especially if you’re eying an international trip, deals are good now.

"Right now, there are two things that are true: You can’t travel to Paris, and you probably haven’t been vaccinated. But if you wait to book your flights until both of those things are no longer true, chances are, there’s not going to be any cheap summer flights left," he explained.

Keyes advised to "lock in the cheap flight, and know that you have the flexibility to be able to change it."

He added that right now, there is a lot of flexibility in airline polices with most allowing travelers to postpone or cancel flights. Although Keyes did say that at the moment domestic flights tend to be more expensive.

"In normal times, you really end up getting a better deal by booking well in advance," said Keyes. "If you waited until the last minute, they tend to be expensive. What the pandemic has done is really kind of flip that on its head."

That means that now, travelers might find the best deals booking just a few weeks out.
