HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities determined large bones found off of Highway 301 near the Harnett County-Johnston County line on Saturday were animal remains.
Harnett County Sheriff's deputies were on the scene for about four hours after receiving a call around 12:43 p.m. about the bones. It was not immediately clear whether they were human remains or from an animal.
After the bones were sent to the medical examiner in Raleigh, it was determined they were animal bones.
