Edgecombe County Water and Sewer customers can once again drink water from their taps, officials said Thursday.

The utility issued a boil advisory on July 18 after water tested positive for total coliform, which is an indicator that other bacteria might be present.

Tests of water in the Edgecombe County system on showed showed no harmful levels of bacteria, officials said, and the advisory was lifted as of 3 p.m.
