CLAYTON, N.C. — Johnston County officials said Sunday that a boil water advisory issued Saturday has been rescinded for most customers although the advisory remains in effect for a small swath of people who live along NC Highway 42 West.

In a written statement, the county said water customers between 2117 NC-42 West and 3719 NC-42 are still under the boil water order, but utility officials said they expect the order to be lifted for those remaining customers sometime Sunday night.

The boil water advisory was issued after a water main break was reported this weekend.

The break occurred near the 3500 block of North Carolina Highway 42 resulted in low or no water pressure for some customers in the Clayton and Cleveland water districts, officials said.

Authorities have not yet said publicly what caused the water main break.

Customers with questions should contact the Johnston County Public Utilities Department at 919-989-5075.
