TARBORO, N.C. — Town officials called off a boil-water advisory for customers on Tarboro's water system on Monday afternoon, Public Works Director David Cashwell said.

Crews were to test the water Monday afternoon to ensure the supply had not been contaminated by a water-main break on Saturday night.

Water service has been restored to approximately 2,000 homes in the Summerfield and Clifton Ridge areas that experienced supply problems on Sunday.

A water main broke in a field off Sherwood Avenue around 11 p.m. Saturday.
