Fayetteville police said they have retrieved the body of a man after receiving reports that someone had jumped from the Person Street Bridge into the Cape Fear River Sunday afternoon.

Authorities declined to identify the man, saying only that he was a Cumberland County resident.

Police were called shortly before 2 p.m. to the bridge on a report of a possible jumper. The man's body was pulled from the river shortly after 5 p.m., police said.

Investigators deployed river rescue crews along with drones during the investigation.
