LILLINGTON, N.C. — The body of a missing man was found Wednesday morning in a wooded area near Cameron, Harnett County authorities said.
Corey Locklear, 29, was reported missing by his girlfriend about a week ago. They live in a home on Northview Drive about a mile from where the body was found, off a dead end on DL Phillips Lane.
Investigators got a tip Wednesday to look for Locklear in the area, so they set up a mobile command post in the area of DL Phillips Lane and Tingen Road, just east of Buffalo Lake Road in the Barbecue community. The State Bureau of Investigation brought in a canine unit, and a search team began combing the area at about 7:30 a.m.
The body was found at about 9 a.m., and authorities sealed off the area to protect evidence in the woods. There was no immediate word on cause of death.
