Body found in Wilmington house after suspicious fire
Firefighters found a body in a burned-out house in Wilmington early Sunday, according to the New Hanover Sheriff's Office.
Posted — UpdatedWILMINGTON, N.C. — Firefighters found a body in a burned-out house in Wilmington early Sunday, according to the New Hanover Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies and fire crews responded to a fire at 307 Putnam Drive around 2:15 a.m., officials said. While fighting the fire, crews found a body in what appeared to be a living room in the back of the home.
Officials said the body was extensively burned. Its identity has not been determined.
Deputies said evidence indicates the fire was of suspicious origin. The investigation was ongoing.
