Body found in Tar River identified as Durham man

A body found in the Tar River in Greenville has been identified as a Durham man, police said Tuesday.

GREENVILLE, N.C. — A body found in the Tar River in Greenville has been identified as a Durham man, police said Tuesday. 

The body of Thomas Brooks Thigpen, 61, was found on Saturday in an area of Warren Street. 

The Pitt County Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy, but the results are pending the outcome of a toxicology report. 

Police said there were no visible signs of trauma to Thigpen and no foul play was suspected in the case. 

Thigpen resided in a variety of locations in Greenville. His state identification card listed a Durham address. 

Anyone who may have had contact with Thigpen since Feb. 9 is asked to contact Greenville police at 252-329-4176.
