RALEIGH, N.C. — Louisburg Road on Friday morning was blocked off after emergency crews responded to a hit-and-run crash involving a 17-year-old girl.

Ashlee Marie Llagostera, from Raleigh, was hit by a pick-up truck and killed while walking on the paved shoulder of U.S. Highway 401 at around 1:30 a.m.

The driver fled the scene after hitting the teenager, officials said. Shortly after, officials said the truck driver was then involved in another crash around the same time.

Wendel Romual Ramirez-Silva, 27, from Raleigh was charged with aggravated felony death by vehicle and felony hit and run. He was also charged with driving without a license after his license was revoked after he drove while impaired.

Llagostera was a student at Rolesville High School, according to a spokesperson with the Wake County Public School System

"Words can’t even begin to describe the pain I feel right now," Llagostera's sister wrote on Facebook. "I can’t believe I’m never going to see my sisters beautiful face again. We did everything together."

Authorities were seen searching a wooded area off US Highway 401 on Friday morning.

Louisburg Road, also known as US Highway 401, was closed from just north of Forestville Road through Mitchell Mill Road for several hours.
