An aerial tour of damage from Hurricane Florence shows flooding along the Neuse River on Sept. 16, 2018.

— A body was found in the Neuse River in Lenoir County on Saturday morning, authorities said.

The body was found near the King Street boat landing around 9 a.m., said Jerri King, interim director of Lenoir County Emergency Services.

The body has not been identified.

In December, an 18-wheeler was found in the river after running off U.S. Highway 80. During searches, divers were unable to find the driver.

A passerby said the truck appeared to have struck guardrails on both the right and left sides of the highway. When fire department first responders and paramedics arrived at the site, they spotted a tractor-trailer in the water. A long stretch of guardrail was missing on the left side of the road where the truck went over.

A State Highway Patrol sergeant said authorities thought the trailer was empty.
