The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office found a body of a man in the woods near Carowind Drive and Billy Joe Lane in Linden Tuesday.
Posted — UpdatedLINDEN, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office found a body of a man in the woods near Carowind Drive and Billy Joe Lane in Linden Tuesday.
Residents of the area had reported a foul odor, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office classified the death as suspicious. The body was so badly decomposed that it was impossible to determine if foul play was involved, spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said.
The body will be sent to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for positive identification and cause of death.
