Body found in Fayetteville

Fayetteville police said that a body was found at Eastern Boulevard and Grove Street early Sunday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police said that a body was found at Eastern Boulevard and Grove Street early Sunday.

Police said a call about the man's body came in around 6:30 a.m.

Officers said they first thought the victim died after a hit and run accident, but now think he was beaten.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide and the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill will perform an autopsy, police said.

More details, including the identity of the victim, haven't been released.

The investigation was ongoing.
