Police in Killeen, Texas, have released graphic body camera footage showing a deputy firing the shots that killed Patrick Warren during a mental health call.
Miss Bobby Warren called 911 on January. But she also told the call taker that her husband was aggressive. Hey was almost physical. While the Warren family asked for a mental health deputy the day Patrick Warren was shot, they also indicated the family could be in danger. And Chief Charles Kimball says that's why Officer Reinado Contreras tried to make contact with the family as soon as possible. But when he opened the door, uh, hey couldn't communicate with Warren, and then Warren made a barking sound. Contreras then walked out of the house to de escalate the situation. Listen to the sounds Warren was making inside. Hey, Warren appeared at the door. 90 seconds later, he walked halfway across the yard towards the officer before being tased. You're gonna get tased. You're gonna get taste. Theune came something, even mawr unexpected. Warren jumps to his feet immediately and runs at the officer. Contreras retreats past the edge of the yard, still trying to communicate. Finally, he opens fire, Chief Kimball said Today officers only have 42 maybe 80 hours of mental health training and limited tools to handle a fully manic individual. There are things that we are not capable, capable, do our tools are very limited and dealing with persons that have mental health issues. But he also said the officer was there to check on the family and did the best he could in that situation. I can't imagine put myself in office contrary shoes because I believe video show that he waited until the last possible set force the chilling moments after the shots were fired showing officer wishing things had gone differently on Contreras even walked back to Warren to pray in his final moments. Okay, so I'm gonna pray for you. Okay? Our father in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on a daily bread and forgive us our trespasses way Forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation.
