Boater's body recovered in Wrightsville Beach Channel

A Coast Guard boat crew recovered the body of a 68-year-old man from the Wrightsville Beach Channel on Monday.

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. — A Coast Guard boat crew recovered the body of a 68-year-old man from the Wrightsville Beach Channel on Monday. 

The Coast Guard said Marine Max Boat Sales called to report that a man had piloted the boat through the channel with an apparent injury. When Station Wrightsville Beach boat crews launched to investigate, the man fell from his boat into the water. 

Crews tried to resuscitate the man, until EMS arrived and declared him dead. 

The man's name was not released. 

The Coast Guard and North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission members are investigating the cause of the incident.
