Boater charged after 2 hurt in Falls Lake accident

Officials said three people were on an 18-foot boat on when the driver became disoriented and crashed into the Beaver Creek Dam near Creedmoor Road.

Two people on board were rushed to a nearby hospital but are expected to recover. The third person did not need treatment, authorities said.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission charged Jay Blanchfield with operating a motor vessel while impaired and operating a vessel in a careless and reckless manner, authorities said.

Authorities said people should make sure they know their surroundings, especially as people take to the water for the Fourth of July.
