RALEIGH, N.C. — Rain is moving out of the Triangle, but winds will make Tuesday colder than normal.

Clear skies were expected in central North Carolina by 8 a.m. and in southern areas of the state by noon.

While roads were wet in the morning after a night of rain, wind will help dry them throughout the day.

Northerly winds that were gusting up to 23 mph were bringing in cold air to the Triangle.

A high-pressure system near Michigan and Wisconsin is feeding in cold air from the north.

The high on Tuesday is expected to be 56 degrees.

Temperatures drop overnight to the low 30s.

“Overnight with clear skies, our temperatures will really take a plunge,” Gardner said.

Wednesday will climb up to a high of 56 degrees again, but another plunge takes overnight lows to about freezing.

Thursday will warm up to the mid-60s, though, before reaching the 70s on Friday and Saturday.
