Bluegrass musicians vie for top honors at upcoming awards in Raleigh

The IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards will be presented on Sept. 29 at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Billy Strings, Del McCoury Band and Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway are among the nominees vying for "Entertainer of the Year" at this year's IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards, the IBMA announced Tuesday.
The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys and Sister Sadie round out the nominees for the category. The IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards will be presented on Sept. 29 at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh. See a full list of nominees.

Also announced Tuesday were the 2022 inductees into the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place during the music awards. The inductees include multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Norman Blake, broadcast pioneer and recording artist Paul “Moon” Mullins and GRAMMY winner Peter Rowan.

The IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards are part of the International Bluegrass Music Association's World of Bluegrass, a five-day extravaganza of bluegrass music and networking. This year's event is Sept. 27-Oct. 1 at various venues in downtown Raleigh.

World of Bluegrass also includes Bluegrass Live!, a free outdoor street festival with ticketed shows at Red Hat Amphitheater. Tickets are on sale now.

Organizers of the IBMA Business Conference, which is also part of the week of events, announced Tuesday the recipients of the IBMA Distinguished Achievement Award, presented annually at a luncheon during the conference. This year's recipients include flatpicking innovator Dan Crary, cutting-edge roots music organization FreshGrass Foundation, revered banjo creator and musician Steve Huber, the legendary Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the landmark, Will the Circle Be Unbroken album, and online education leaders Peghead Nation.
