Bill Leslie: Life is Beautiful
We all need to plan ahead and learn from our mistakes. But we don't need to be in a constant state of worry about what will be or what was.
Posted — Updated“Life is Beautiful” is an anthem to mindfulness, the practice of intently concentrating on the moment at hand.
The opposite of mindfulness is the practice of mindlessness, the act of always racing ahead to the future or getting bogged down in the past.
We all need to plan ahead and learn from our mistakes. But we don’t need to be in a constant state of worry about what will be or what was.
The song is about a person who beats himself up over yesterday’s failures and lives in fear of tomorrow’s imaginary problems.
My father had a saying:
“Bill, don’t pay interest on trouble before it’s due!”
In other words, you can’t lead a happy life if you are constantly in a state of worry.
Mastering mindfulness will make you a better listener, friend, worker, husband, wife, grandparent and so on.
Mindfulness will make your life a deeper and more meaningful experience.
I’ve just finished crafting a music video of “Life Is Beautiful.”
