The spouses of Democratic candidates for president and vice president will be campaigning in North Carolina in the coming days.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The spouses of Democratic candidates for president and vice president will be campaigning in North Carolina in the coming days.

Jill Biden, the wife of presidential candidate Joe Biden, will be in Greenville next Tuesday. Meanwhile, Doug Emhoff, the husband of U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, Joe Biden's running mate, will be in Greensboro on Friday.

No details about either event have been released.

Emhoff and Jill Biden have been campaigning together. They have said they take information from each interaction that they have with voters home to their spouses to help them better understand challenges confronting Americans.

The visits demonstrate the growing importance Democrats are placing on North Carolina in the upcoming election.

Recent polls have shown North Carolina to be a dead heat between President Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden.
Trump has visited the state five times since late August. Biden didn't make his first visit until holding an event in Charlotte last week. That was followed by Harris visiting Raleigh on Monday.
