Police said a dark-colored car pulled alongside Michael Cooley as he was riding a bike at 708 E. Grand Ave. around 3:30 a.m. An occupant of the car fired a gun, hitting Cooley once, officers said.

Cooley was transported to Nash General Hospital.

Police described the vehicle as a green Ford Taurus or Nissan Maxima.
