Keep that New Year's resolution to lose weight at one of these five places in the Triangle.

DefyGravity Raleigh

I like to hit the gym, but sometimes the regular routine gets old. Staying motivated can be hard, so I came up with this list of five places to burn calories at the Triangle, and also have fun.

Defy Gravity (Raleigh and Durham) - You can go and just jump for an hour - believe me you will notice muscles hurting that you didn't know you even have - or you can take one of their GravityFit classes. This intense workout involves jumping on the trampoline. Classes are Tuesday and Thursday nights in Raleigh and Monday through Thursday and Saturday in Durham. Classes cost $9 or $10 each.
Triangle Rock Club (Morrisville, North Raleigh and Fayetteville) - Founded in 2007 by two former Marines who wanted to teach others the skill in an enclosed environment, this is the perfect place to learn to rock climb. Whether you are tackling a smaller wall or the big 55-foot one, you are burning calories and getting stronger. One of the best things a
Cirque de Vol (Raleigh) - Whether you are tackling aerial silks, trapeze or stilt-walking, you are burning calories while having fun at this north Raleigh studio. Classes also include Zumba, yoga, aerial hoop and dance.
OrangeTheory Fitness (Morrisville, Chapel Hill, North Raleigh and Wake Forest) - Offering one hour workout sessions split into cardio and strength training, you get a well-rounded and intense workout. We like the mix of strength and cardio intervals, which can help you burn calories even after leaving the studio. There is also a location in Holly Springs.
Flywheel (Raleigh) - This Cameron Village studio takes indoor cycling to another level. If you are competitive, opt in for the Torqboard - a large-screen display that occasionally flashes the leaderboards that show how you are performing. And if you want to take a break from cycling, FlyBarre offers light weight training and core sculpting through dance. I've taken both of these classes and really enjoyed the pace and amount of calories I burned. And they have great private showers!
