Best Halloween candy
You know you secretly sneak candy out of your children's trick-or-treat bags after they go to bed. It's okay, your secret's safe with us.Posted — Updated
RALEIGH, N.C. — We love Halloween candy so much, we end up eating it for weeks because everyone keeps bringing it into the station! But not all Halloween candy is created equal.
There's the cheap, so-so candy that you get to hand out to the trick-or-treaters. Dum-dums and Smarties, we are talking about you!
Then, there's the name-brand Halloween goodies that you sneak out of your children's trick-or-treat bags after they go to bed. (Not saying I do that because I don't....)
Here is our annual list of the five best Halloween candies that make us miss trick-or-treating:
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - A Halloween staple that never disappoints. Huffington Post readers voted it the Best Halloween Candy last year. A reported 400 million were sold in 2013, making it pretty likely you will end up with more than a couple during trick-or-treating this year.
Nerds - There is just something about pouring out those tiny boxes and just shoving a giant handful of that strawberry or grape (or both at the same time!) flavored sugar pebbles into your mouth!
Snickers - Peanuts, caramel and nougat covered in chocolate. The peanuts at least give us protein right?
Airheads - This tangy taffy is full of sugar - which means you should eat a ton of it on Halloween to keep up with your trick-or-treating children. Best flavors - cherry or watermelon!
Fun Dip - Halloween is a sugar fest, so why not go all out with Fun Dip? The resulting fluorescent-colored tongue is totally worth it. I loved finding Fun Dip in my trick-or-treat bag as a kid, and eating it as an adult brings back some good memories.
Honorable mention: Candy Corn - This candy is so divisive! Either you love it or your hate it. I'm a huge fan and so is my son, which means we always have a bag of it during Halloween.
What's your favorite Halloween candy?
