Raleigh, N.C. — I-440 in Raleigh reopened Wednesday morning after a serious crash shut down two westbound lanes overnight near Brentwood Road.
The lanes closed around midnight, and reopened around 2 a.m.
The crash was caused when a driver somehow lost control and the car hit a guardrail, according to officials.
The car had a shattered windshield and significant damage to the front end.
No other cars were hit.
A man and a woman were both taken to the hospital, one is in serious condition.
Investigators said they do not believe alcohol played a factor in causing the crash.
