BELHAVEN, N.C. — The small Beaufort town of Belhaven is a haven for flood waters, and this time is no different. Resident Robby Selby says he's tired of it.

Selby's home, like so many in Belhaven, sits raised about eight feet off the ground to guard against repeated floods, but heavy rain usually makes for some anxious times.

On Saturday, flood waters from the Pamlico Sound breached its banks and settled into downtown Belhaven.

Practically every business in downtown Belhaven is underwater. Mayor Ricky Credle said his citizens are in for a long recovery period.
