SIMS, N.C. — A Bailey man died Saturday in a single-vehicle wreck on Rock Quarry Road in Wilson County, authorities said.

Jonathan Daniel Moore, 27, of 6618 West Pine St., was driving north on Rock Quarry Road, about two miles north of Bailey, around 5 p.m., police said.

Police said that for an unknown reason, Moore jerked the wheel to the left. His vehicle crossed the center line, skided sideways for 205 feet before hitting the guardrail on the left side of the road.

The car then spun around, and Moore was ejected from the drivers-side door, before the car hit the guardrail on the right side of the road and came to a stop.

Police said Moore died instantly from his injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Francisco Raya, 41, of 1364 Rock Quarry Road in Sims, was a passenger in the vehicle. He had minor lacerations to his face and right arm. He was transported to Wilson Emergency Room. No information on his condition was available.
