Two injured in crash that stalled I-95 for hours
A recreational vehicle got stuck under a bridge along Interstate 95 South Thursday morning, jamming up traffic for 15 miles from south of Fayetteville to near Lumberton for about three hours.
Posted — UpdatedTroopers told WRAL News that a tire failed on the RV and the vehicle veered into a bridge abutment.
The crash happened near Exit 25, U.S. Highway 301, around 11 a.m. and all lanes were re-opened just before 2:30 p.m.
Trucker Jerry Matthews, hauling fuel from Fayetteville to Dillon, S.C., was among those caught in the backup.
"I knew it was bad," he said. "My buddy called me up on the phone and told me an RV hit the bridge down here and said it was pretty bad."
Engineers determined there was no structural damage to the bridge, U.S. Highway 301 over I-95.
