MORRISVILLE, N.C. — As part of an overall economy rebound, more movie theaters are reopening in the Triangle on Thursday and Friday.

Theaters like B&B Theater in Morrisville are hopeful that customers will return, cherishing the communal experience of catching a movie with their friends. Theaters have been one of the industries hardest hit by COVID-19. The first showings at B&B are Thursday at 6 p.m.

"The best summation is something one of our owners used to say," said Paul Farnsworth with B&B Theatres. "Everybody has a kitchen table at home but they still go out to eat."

"At the end of the day, if you really want to enjoy a movie in the biggest and best way possible, in a community experience, a theater is the only way to go."

Regal theaters are expected to open up more locations in North Carolina on Friday. Most chains are operating by COVID guidelines for safety purposes. Movie times will be staggered so crews will clean hallways and screening rooms up to CDC standards. Masks will be required.
