Baby Steps: Shop till you drop
Holiday shopping for younger family members teaches Christine and her husband a thing or two about kids.
Posted — Updated‘Tis the season for shopping! Luckily, my husband and I had the day off together yesterday for the holiday and we were able to knock out the Christmas wish list for our nieces and nephew. Though, I’ll admit, I was surprised to find out what they really wanted were clothes!
When I was a kid – I absolutely despised getting clothes as a gift. In fact, I recall one Christmas many years ago that I literally cried over how much clothing I found gift wrapped under the tree! So I was really taken aback when our family members said clothing was at the top of their list.
As you can tell, I am not a big shopper and my husband hates crowds – so we made a strategic plan as soon as we walked through the sliding glass doors of the mall. Most of the stores on our plan were places I was familiar with, but one I’d never heard of before…
We were directed very specifically to a girls’ clothing and accessory store called "Justice." I was worried we might miss it, but boy was I wrong! The entire store was bathed in fluorescent yellows and pink. I practically had to put my sunglasses on walking through the door! At checkout the cashier assured us – this place is every little girls’ dream and we will have a very happy niece when she gets her gift card in a few weeks.
I guess there are a few things I still need to learn before becoming a mom!
