Select baby carrots, shredded carrots and more have been recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Grimmway Farms voluntarily issued the recall on July 21, 2021 "as a result of a routine, internal company test," said Grimmway Farms President and CEO Jeff Huckaby.
To date, no illnesses have been linked to this recall, according to the notice on the FDA website.

The recalled carrots include various products from Bunny Luv, O Organics, Cal-Organic including select Shredded Carrots, Organic Cut and Peeled Baby Carrots, Organic Premium Petite Carrots, Organic Petite Carrots, Organic Baby Rainbow Carrots and more. The products were shipped directly to retailers throughout the United States.

The recall notice indicates, "Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis."
