Aziz Ansari announces surprise Raleigh show
The former "Parks and Recreation" star will play Goodnights Comedy Club in Raleigh on Tuesday night.
Posted — UpdatedThe venue noted that those who saw Ansari at the Durham Performing Arts Center in October will notice a "significant overlap in material" at the Goodnights show.
Ansari was born in Columbia, S.C., and graduated from New York University. He created and starred in the original Netflix series "Master of None" and has appeared in many films.
Ansari faced controversy last year when the website Bab published an anonymous report from a woman accusing him of pressuring her into having sex while on a date.
In response, Ansari said the sexual activity on the date was "consensual."
"In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual," Ansari said via a press release last year.
"The next day, I got a text from her saying that although 'it may have seemed okay,' upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned," Ansari wrote. "I took her words to heart and responded privately after taking the time to process what she had said."
