Autopsy: Spring Lake toddler beaten to death
A 16-month old Spring Lake boy found unresponsive at home on Monday died after being beaten, authorities said Wednesday.
Posted — UpdatedSPRING LAKE, N.C. — A 16-month old Spring Lake boy found unresponsive at home this week died after being beaten, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
The body of Kaiden Demus was found inside a home at 2716 Edwards Ave., and the initial dispatch call around 9:30 a.m. Monday indicated he had been found unconscious in a bathtub.
Authorities said an autopsy determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head.
Detectives said the child was in the house with one adult when deputies responded to the home.
No charges have been filed, but the case remains under investigation, authorities said.
